Bhagwant Mann

Bhagwant Singh Mann (born 17 October 1973) is an Indian politician, social worker, former comedian, actor and singer. He is currently serving as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab — a position he’s held since 16 March 2022.


    Early Life & Background

      

        Born in Satoj village, Sangrur district, Punjab, into a Jat Sikh family.

        He studied locally and later attended Shaheed Udham Singh Government College,Sunam, where he participated in comedy and dramatic performances.

        His early interest in performance and satire shaped his future careers.

         


   Political Career

        Entry into Politics

        Entered politics in 2011 with the People’s Party of Punjab (PPP).

        In 2014, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and contested the Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur, winning by a large margin.

        

     Member of Parliament (2014–2022)

         

           Elected MP from Sangrur in 2014 and again in 2019.

     Known for fiery speeches and raising local issues at the national level.

         

   Chief Minister of Punjab (2022–Present)

        

            In 2022, under his leadership, AAP secured a landslide victory in the Punjab Legislative Assembly — winning 92 out of 117 seats.
