Israel Declares Nationwide Emergency After Strikes on Iran; Multiple Nuclear and Military Sites Hit
Israel announced a state of emergency on Friday, June 13, 2025, after confirming it had carried out strikes on Iranian territory. The attack triggered Iran’s air defence systems, with state media in Tehran reporting several explosions as tensions in the region spiked. The escalation comes at a time when U.S. diplomats are pushing Iran to stop producing nuclear material.
According to an Israeli defence official, the strikes were aimed at “dozens” of nuclear and military locations. The official also cautioned that Iran now holds sufficient enriched material to potentially assemble up to 15 nuclear weapons within a matter of days. With fears of retaliatory drone or missile attacks, Israeli authorities placed the country under a nationwide emergency alert.
Two senior American officials stated that the U.S. had no role in the Israeli operation. U.S. media reports added that President Donald Trump — currently serving his second term — convened a cabinet meeting to address the unfolding crisis.
Iranian state TV confirmed that several blasts were heard in the capital, noting that the nation’s air defence network had been fully activated in response.
A day earlier, on June 12, President Trump had remarked that an Israeli offensive against Iran “was very possible,” but stressed that he preferred a peaceful outcome to the standoff.
