Michael Bloomberg

Michael Rubens Bloomberg (born February 14, 1942) is an American billionaire, philanthropist, and politician, best known as the co-founder and majority owner of Bloomberg L.P., a global financial information, software, and media company. Bloomberg served as the CEO of Bloomberg L.P. from 1981 to 2001 and again from 2014 to 2023. He is also recognized for his public service as the 108th mayor of New York City, holding office for three terms from 2002 to 2013. In 2024, President Joe Biden awarded Bloomberg the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States.

Early Life and Education

Born in Medford, Massachusetts, Bloomberg grew up in a middle-class family. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1966.
